Guide To Hawaii Vacations

The golf courses on Oahu are each unique and challenging.
Many of the courses you will be choosing to play are in the less populated areas on the east, west, and north shores so you will need a car. The drive is worth it, there are wonderful courses for very affordable fees and challenges that are not found on the other islands.
Hawaii Kai Course is a quick 15 minutes past Diamond Head and Kohala. The drive is along the coast with scenic views on every turn. Hawaii Kai at sea level with windy conditions and views of the Pacific on every tee. Minimum is two players. Good dining nearby at the Hawaii Kai Mall.
Pearl Country Club above the Harbor with views of the port and harbor activities. The country club is quiet with no food service. The elevations support a wide variety of beautiful trees. Close to Pearl City Mall for dining and shopping.
Hawaii Prince Golf Course has 3 nine hole courses. 18 hole play can combine any of the 3. The Prince Resort offers guests transportation. The course is at low elevation with airport traffic overhead. Unlimited Play rates are available Monday through Thursday.
Waikele Golf Course is inland on gently sloping hills with nice shade trees. The golf club offers a nice menu and there is shopping nearby at the factory outlet stores. This is a great choice if you are visiting Oahu during hot weather.
Royal Kunia Course is a small local course with limited shops and dining. The views of Pearl Harbor are not to be believed. The greens are rolling hills, very green and lush with easy walking and cool breezes.
Ko'olina Golf Course, when you drive into the Ko'olina development you will know you are somewhere special. The Ko'olina course is spread out over low hills that are adjacent to the Marriott Ihilani Resort. The golf course wraps around Roy's Restaurant with it Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine.
Kapolei Golf Course is in the low lands with multiple water features. The course has beautiful landscaping and trees with paths across narrow patches of land. The area is warm in the mid day with little shade.
Coral Creek Course has a modern club house with restaurant and bar and a great Pro Shop. The landscaping is beautiful and arranged around the tees to create scenic backdrops to the greens. The weather is warm and the terrain in mostly low hills.
Makaha Golf Course is near the end of the road on the west side of Oahu. It is located in Makaha Valley. This region is unique for its remote surroundings and beautiful views of the coast. The resort recently changed ownership. There area accommodations available at the resort. If you want a quiet secluded golf retreat, this is as good as it gets.
Luana Hills Course is built in a narrow valley. Designed by Perry Dye, the course is surrounded by deep ravines and bunkers. I think you might loose some golf balls into the crevices that surround this amazing course. The club house does not offer refreshments or food. It is not crowded with players during the week.
Ko'olau Golf Course is near Luana Hills on the steep side of the Ko'olau Mountains. You will play in one of the most beautiful rain forests in Hawaii with 2000 foot cliffs and lush natural greenery. The game is challenging and you will be distracted by the scenery. There is a restaurant in the magnificent club house.
Olomana Golf Course is on the east shore at a lower elevation with water features and san bunkers. There is a restaurant and Pro Shop. The weather is more reliable than the Luana Hills or Ko'olau courses because of the lower elevation. A favorite course for locals. Give this course a try if you have time. It is an easy drive from Waikiki over the Pali Hwy.
Turtle Bay Palmer at the Turtle Bay Resort. The Palmer Course is the home of PGA Champion's Turtle Bay Championship in January. The weather is cool and breezy and the clubhouse has great food with views of the course from your table. I heard that you can play the Fazio Course in the afternoon for a discount is you play the Palmer that same morning.
Turtle Bay Fazio is George Fazio's only course in Hawaii. It is adjacent to the Turtle Bay Resort and the Palmer Course and it shares the clubhouse and pro shop. There are ocean views and some of Oahu's best greens.
Accommodations at the Turtle Bay Resort are the only choice unless you want to drive out from Waikiki, just a beautiful 90 minute drive.
