Greetings from fabulous Las Vegas!  This is Lisa J. back from the beautiful Hawaiian island of Kauai.  What an experience!  The island was much more beautiful than we imagined and the accommodations were wonderful.  We had all of the conveniences of home at The Point at Poipu which included lavish gardens and a gorgeous pool.  The staff was very friendly and accommodating as well, and the property was conveniently located close to stores, restaurants, and the like.
 
We went on many adventures during our week in Kauai and experienced many different areas of the island.  We discovered the quaint town of Koloa which offered some tourist shopping for the kids along with galleries, eateries, post office, and groceries!  We also went on a helicopter tour of the island which was phenomenal!  Unfortunately, one of our party didn't fare too well with the air sickness, but overall I think all had a good time exploring areas of Kauai that would have otherwise been missed if not seen by helicopter.
 
We also went kayaking on the Waialua River which included a hike to a lush waterfall where we enjoyed lunch.  The teenagers loved the hike, but didn't care for the "work" of having to paddle their kayak.  The adults had a fabulous time!  Our guide was awesome and was full of interesting facts and knowledge of the natives that once inhabited the area.
 
Then it was off to a rafting tour of the Na Pali Coast.  What an adventure!  After exploring hidden caves, waterfalls, and various beaches, we landed on a beach for a short hike to an ancient fishing village for lunch.  The guides were outstanding!  We had our 2 teenagers with us (nicknamed Paris and Nicole) and even they enjoyed the day!  The ride back was very bumpy, though, thus I would not recommend this to the faint of heart.
 
We also experienced the luau at Princeville....an hour and a half drive.  Needless to say, this was not the highlite of the trip.  Very dissappointing, but the food was good.  We have been to better as some would say.  All in all a great trip was had by all.  Beautiful weather, scenery, accommodations, and interaction with the islanders.  Thanks, Rose, for helping to arrange such a wonderful experience!
